The Consolation

أَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَكَ صَدۡرَكَ1

Ayah 1

Translation of the meaningHave We not uplifted your heart for you ˹O Prophet˺

وَوَضَعۡنَا عَنكَ وِزۡرَكَ2

Ayah 2

Translation of the meaningrelieved you of the burden

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهۡرَكَ3

Ayah 3

Translation of the meaningwhich weighed so heavily on your back

وَرَفَعۡنَا لَكَ ذِكۡرَكَ4

Ayah 4

Translation of the meaningand elevated your renown for you

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا5

Ayah 5

Translation of the meaningSo, surely with hardship comes ease

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرࣰ ا6

Ayah 6

Translation of the meaningSurely with ˹that˺ hardship comes ˹more˺ ease

فَإِذَا فَرَغۡتَ فَٱنصَبۡ7

Ayah 7

Translation of the meaningSo once you have fulfilled ˹your duty˺, strive ˹in devotion˺

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرۡغَب8

Ayah 8

Translation of the meaningturning to your Lord ˹alone˺ with hope
