The Morning Hours

وَٱلضُّحَىٰ1

Ayah 1

Translation of the meaningBy the morning sunlight

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ2

Ayah 2

Translation of the meaningand the night when it falls still

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ3

Ayah 3

Translation of the meaningYour Lord ˹O Prophet˺ has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful ˹of you˺

وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرࣱ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ4

Ayah 4

Translation of the meaningAnd the next life is certainly far better for you than this one

وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ5

Ayah 5

Translation of the meaningAnd ˹surely˺ your Lord will give so much to you that you will be pleased

أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمࣰ ا فَـَٔاوَىٰ6

Ayah 6

Translation of the meaningDid He not find you as an orphan then sheltered you

وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلࣰّ ا فَهَدَىٰ7

Ayah 7

Translation of the meaningDid He not find you unguided then guided you

وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلࣰ ا فَأَغۡنَىٰ8

Ayah 8

Translation of the meaningAnd did He not find you needy then satisfied your needs

فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ9

Ayah 9

Translation of the meaningSo do not oppress the orphan

وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنۡهَرۡ10

Ayah 10

Translation of the meaningnor repulse the beggar

وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ11

Ayah 11

Translation of the meaningAnd proclaim the blessings of your Lord
