Those who drag forth

وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقࣰ ا1

Ayah 1

Translation of the meaningBy those ˹angels˺ stripping out ˹evil souls˺ harshly

وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطࣰ ا2

Ayah 2

Translation of the meaningand those pulling out ˹good souls˺ gently

وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحࣰ ا3

Ayah 3

Translation of the meaningand those gliding ˹through heavens˺ swiftly

فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقࣰ ا4

Ayah 4

Translation of the meaningand those taking the lead vigorously

فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرࣰ ا5

Ayah 5

Translation of the meaningand those conducting affairs ˹obediently˺

يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ6

Ayah 6

Translation of the meaning˹Consider˺ the Day ˹when˺ the quaking Blast will come to pass

تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ7

Ayah 7

Translation of the meaningfollowed by a second Blast

قُلُوبࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ وَاجِفَةٌ8

Ayah 8

Translation of the meaning˹The deniers’˺ hearts on that Day will be trembling ˹in horror˺

أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةࣱ‏9

Ayah 9

Translation of the meaningwith their eyes downcast

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ10

Ayah 10

Translation of the meaning˹But now˺ they ask ˹mockingly˺, “Will we really be restored to our former state

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمࣰ ا نَّخِرَةࣰ‏11

Ayah 11

Translation of the meaningeven after we have been reduced to decayed bones?”

قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذࣰ ا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةࣱ‏12

Ayah 12

Translation of the meaningAdding, “Then such a return would be a ˹total˺ loss ˹for us˺!”

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَٰحِدَةࣱ‏13

Ayah 13

Translation of the meaningBut indeed, it will take only one ˹mighty˺ Blast

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ14

Ayah 14

Translation of the meaningand at once they will be above ground

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ15

Ayah 15

Translation of the meaningHas the story of Moses reached you ˹O Prophet˺

إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى16

Ayah 16

Translation of the meaningHis Lord called him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwa

ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ17

Ayah 17

Translation of the meaning˹commanding,˺ “Go to Pharaoh, for he has truly transgressed ˹all bounds˺

فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ18

Ayah 18

Translation of the meaningAnd say, ‘Would you ˹be willing to˺ purify yourself

وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ19

Ayah 19

Translation of the meaningand let me guide you to your Lord so that you will be in awe ˹of Him˺?’”

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ20

Ayah 20

Translation of the meaningThen Moses showed him the great sign

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ21

Ayah 21

Translation of the meaningbut he denied and disobeyed ˹Allah˺

ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ22

Ayah 22

Translation of the meaningthen turned his back, striving ˹against the truth˺

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ23

Ayah 23

Translation of the meaningThen he summoned ˹his people˺ and called out

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ24

Ayah 24

Translation of the meaningsaying, “I am your lord, the most high!”

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ25

Ayah 25

Translation of the meaningSo Allah overtook him, making him an example in this life and the next

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةࣰ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ26

Ayah 26

Translation of the meaningSurely in this is a lesson for whoever stands in awe of ˹Allah˺

ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا27

Ayah 27

Translation of the meaningWhich is harder to create: you or the sky? He built it

رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا28

Ayah 28

Translation of the meaningraising it high and forming it flawlessly

وَأَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا29

Ayah 29

Translation of the meaningHe dimmed its night, and brought forth its daylight

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ30

Ayah 30

Translation of the meaningAs for the earth, He spread it out as well

أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا31

Ayah 31

Translation of the meaningbringing forth its water and pastures

وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا32

Ayah 32

Translation of the meaningand setting the mountains firmly ˹upon it˺—

مَتَٰعࣰ ا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ33

Ayah 33

Translation of the meaningall as ˹a means of˺ sustenance for you and your animals

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ34

Ayah 34

Translation of the meaningBut, when the Supreme Disaster comes to pass—

يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ35

Ayah 35

Translation of the meaningthe Day every person will remember all ˹their˺ striving

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ36

Ayah 36

Translation of the meaningand the Hellfire will be displayed for all to see—

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ37

Ayah 37

Translation of the meaningthen as for those who transgressed

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا38

Ayah 38

Translation of the meaningand preferred the ˹fleeting˺ life of this world

فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ39

Ayah 39

Translation of the meaningthe Hellfire will certainly be ˹their˺ home

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ40

Ayah 40

Translation of the meaningAnd as for those who were in awe of standing before their Lord and restrained themselves from ˹evil˺ desires

فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ41

Ayah 41

Translation of the meaningParadise will certainly be ˹their˺ home

يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا42

Ayah 42

Translation of the meaningThey ask you ˹O Prophet˺ regarding the Hour, “When will it be?”

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ43

Ayah 43

Translation of the meaningBut it is not for you to tell its time

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ44

Ayah 44

Translation of the meaningThat knowledge rests with your Lord ˹alone˺

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰهَا45

Ayah 45

Translation of the meaningYour duty is only to warn whoever is in awe of it

كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا46

Ayah 46

Translation of the meaningOn the Day they see it, it will be as if they had stayed ˹in the world˺ no more than one evening or its morning
