The Emissaries

وَٱلۡمُرۡسَلَٰتِ عُرۡفࣰ ا1

Ayah 1

Translation of the meaningBy those ˹winds˺ sent forth successively

فَٱلۡعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصۡفࣰ ا2

Ayah 2

Translation of the meaningand those blowing violently

وَٱلنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشۡرࣰ ا3

Ayah 3

Translation of the meaningand those scattering ˹rainclouds˺ widely

فَٱلۡفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرۡقࣰ ا4

Ayah 4

Translation of the meaningAnd ˹by˺ those ˹angels˺ fully distinguishing ˹truth from falsehood˺

فَٱلۡمُلۡقِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا5

Ayah 5

Translation of the meaningand those delivering revelation

عُذۡرًا أَوۡ نُذۡرًا6

Ayah 6

Translation of the meaningending excuses and giving warnings

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعࣱ‏7

Ayah 7

Translation of the meaningSurely, what you are promised will come to pass

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتۡ8

Ayah 8

Translation of the meaningSo when the stars are put out

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡ9

Ayah 9

Translation of the meaningand the sky is torn apart

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ10

Ayah 10

Translation of the meaningand the mountains are blown away

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتۡ11

Ayah 11

Translation of the meaningand the messengers’ time ˹to testify˺ comes up—

لِأَيِّ يَوۡمٍ أُجِّلَتۡ12

Ayah 12

Translation of the meaningfor which Day has all this been set

لِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ13

Ayah 13

Translation of the meaningFor the Day of ˹Final˺ Decision

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ14

Ayah 14

Translation of the meaningAnd what will make you realize what the Day of Decision is

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ15

Ayah 15

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

أَلَمۡ نُهۡلِكِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ16

Ayah 16

Translation of the meaningDid We not destroy earlier disbelievers

ثُمَّ نُتۡبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ17

Ayah 17

Translation of the meaningAnd We will make the later disbelievers follow them

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ18

Ayah 18

Translation of the meaningThis is how We deal with the wicked

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ19

Ayah 19

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

أَلَمۡ نَخۡلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءࣲ مَّهِينࣲ‏20

Ayah 20

Translation of the meaningDid We not create you from a humble fluid

فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ فِي قَرَارࣲ مَّكِينٍ21

Ayah 21

Translation of the meaningplacing it in a secure place

إِلَىٰ قَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ‏22

Ayah 22

Translation of the meaninguntil an appointed time

فَقَدَرۡنَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡقَٰدِرُونَ23

Ayah 23

Translation of the meaningWe ˹perfectly˺ ordained ˹its development˺. How excellent are We in doing so

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ24

Ayah 24

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا25

Ayah 25

Translation of the meaningHave We not made the earth a lodging

أَحۡيَآءࣰ وَأَمۡوَٰتࣰ ا26

Ayah 26

Translation of the meaningfor the living and the dead

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتࣲ وَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُم مَّآءࣰ فُرَاتࣰ ا27

Ayah 27

Translation of the meaningand placed upon it towering, firm mountains, and given you fresh water to drink

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ28

Ayah 28

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ29

Ayah 29

Translation of the meaning˹The disbelievers will be told,˺ “Proceed into that ˹Fire˺ which you used to deny

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلࣲّ ذِي ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبࣲ‏30

Ayah 30

Translation of the meaningProceed into the shade ˹of smoke˺ which rises in three columns

لَّا ظَلِيلࣲ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ31

Ayah 31

Translation of the meaningproviding neither coolness nor shelter from the flames

إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِي بِشَرَرࣲ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ32

Ayah 32

Translation of the meaningIndeed, it hurls sparks ˹as big˺ as huge castles

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتࣱ صُفۡرࣱ‏33

Ayah 33

Translation of the meaningand ˹as dark˺ as black camels.”

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ34

Ayah 34

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ35

Ayah 35

Translation of the meaningOn that Day they will not ˹be in a position to˺ speak

وَلَا يُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَيَعۡتَذِرُونَ36

Ayah 36

Translation of the meaningnor will they be permitted to offer excuses

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ37

Ayah 37

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِۖ جَمَعۡنَٰكُمۡ وَٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ38

Ayah 38

Translation of the meaning˹They will be told by Allah,˺ “This is the Day of ˹Final˺ Decision: We have gathered you along with earlier disbelievers ˹for punishment˺

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡدࣱ فَكِيدُونِ39

Ayah 39

Translation of the meaningSo if you have a scheme ˹to save yourselves˺, then use it against Me.”

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ40

Ayah 40

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَٰلࣲ وَعُيُونࣲ‏41

Ayah 41

Translation of the meaningIndeed, the righteous will be amid ˹cool˺ shade and springs

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ42

Ayah 42

Translation of the meaningand any fruit they desire

كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ43

Ayah 43

Translation of the meaning˹They will be told,˺ “Eat and drink happily for what you used to do.”

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ44

Ayah 44

Translation of the meaningSurely this is how We reward the good-doers

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ45

Ayah 45

Translation of the meaning˹But˺ woe on that Day to the deniers

كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ46

Ayah 46

Translation of the meaning“Eat and enjoy yourselves for a little while, ˹for˺ you are truly wicked.”

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ47

Ayah 47

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُواْ لَا يَرۡكَعُونَ48

Ayah 48

Translation of the meaningWhen it is said to them, “Bow down ˹before Allah,” they do not bow

وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ49

Ayah 49

Translation of the meaningWoe on that Day to the deniers

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعۡدَهُۥ يُؤۡمِنُونَ50

Ayah 50

Translation of the meaningSo what message after this ˹Quran˺ would they believe in
